Why Apollo 11 looked so different to black America
- nutcracker46 7y agoPart of the issue of African Americans believing that the Apollo program had nothing to do with them was really bad reporting of Apollo's actual diversity. No one seemed to know of Afro-American astronaut Robert Henry Lawrence Jr or test pilot / candidate Ed Dwight. No one was covering the diversity among engineers and technicians involved in the space program, or the women of color doing the mathematics or writing software used in Project Apollo. And fuck the modern day skinheads who can watch documentaries about the space program and gripe about scenes with minority engineers, techs, or "hidden figures" with snide remarks about "empty kitchens" or "another black taking our jobs."
