I think no one should blame people for donating canned goods to food bank as the action is most likely to be driven by the anchoring effect of the name "food bank". When I first read about the title, I was thinking what other food I can donate, donating money wasn't seem to be in the realm of option. Simply change the name "food bank" to "food fund" will solve the problem.
