So the answer is for the government to rob people of what they've earned? Doesn't sound very American to me.

  Well, whether they've "earned" that money is debatable. And really immaterial to the question at hand. As for using terms such as "rob" and accusations of not being "American" enough, let's save the ideology and inflammatory rhetoric, shall we?

    What word would you use to describe the government taking money from people who decide it's no longer in their best interest to participate in that government?
