True, but skepticism is always warranted with any large company. I don't believe AMP is evil, nor are they trying to seize control of the open web, but if there's possibility then scrutiny is critical. A free and open web is still in Google's best interests. AMP content is still standards-compliant, it just builds upon the standards already in place. Isn't this what the web was designed for - to be extensible?
