I poked at this concept myself with a short-lived old side project called sophocles: https://github.com/Shadowfiend/sophocles https://github.com/Shadowfiend/sophocles . At the time I was experimenting with displaying the diff and the commit message side-by-side, as well.
This post says:

But I think variations of the underlying thinking are very important for real-world software, even if it's not the exact same thing.
