Software is getting increasingly complex. Why? To ensure better uptime, amongst other things. The funny part is that all the complexity often leads to downtime. A single server would usually have less downtime than Google, Facebook and so on. But Google and Facebook needs this complexity to handle the amount of traffic they're getting. Makes me wonder why people are trying to do stuff like Google when they're not Google. Keeping it simple is the best solution.
