We really need a micropayments protocol. I've been working on one intermittently for about 3 years. Please let me know if you'd like to talk more about it. I think it will take a simple protocol, like SMTP, using one-time passwords to authorize transfers. Your software will use transfer services to exchange money at different banks, streaming the money to minimize theft. Micropayments is an important problem!
