Thanos did nothing wrong. our population needs to be cut in half. it's simple... get a vasectomy (or your tubes ties) and don't have kids. in 20 years the problem will correct itself.
- Communitivity 7y agoI don't think this will result in a good effect. The people who are conscientious will not have kids, while the others will have kids. As a result the next generation will be more likely to be less conscientious due to nature, and nurture. I think the solution is education, and specifically, education about ethics and conservation. If we make the next generation feel obligated to be stewards of the earth, and smart enough to act on that obligation, then the human race has a chance. But it has to happen with this generation being born now, or we won't have the time to save Earth without leaving it first - one way or another.
- coldtea 7y ago>The people who are conscientious will not have kids, while the others will have kids. That's easy to solve (technically): a) enforce a "max 1 child per couple" policy for all couples (for as long as needed). b) or force-sterilize half of the population but randomly (not by their own choice).
- coldtea 7y agoWell, 20% of the population (e.g. US and Western Europe say) has the 80% of environmental impact. Including e.g. Chinese factories population etc (most of the production there is for western consumers anyway). And even 200% the current population could have 10% the current carbon impact (with the appropriate lifestyle adjustments, e.g. green energy, much less consumption, less planned obsolesce, less meat, less greedy corporatism, less international travel, etc.). So, no, population is not really the problem at the moment (besides it's declining anyway).
- astazangasta 7y agoThanos doesn't understand exponential growth. If you actually want to have an effect, cutting a population in half does nothing, it'll just grow back in whatever the doubling time is, probably on the order of decades; you need to decimate or eradicate.
