I've been super happy with the touch pads performance out of the box, I literally haven't modified any settings related to it. Are you referring to this bug[1] in Chromium? I think these are growing pains associated with transitioning to Wayland, but this really doesn't bother me too much. I will say that the scrolling is otherwise very smooth and almost perfectly everywhere else in the UX.
