Just a little hack that I am using on my MBP is changing Caps Lock key to be the Control key. It helps a lot and I know I barely ever use the original Caps Lock key.

Having fn instead of control at the bottom left has been throwing me off in my screen-based SSH sessions a lot so far. I'll definitely look into this.

  You can easily change that in System Preferences > Keyboard, on the Keyboard tab, click the Modifier Keys... button.
