I’m an old Perl 5 dev. I haven’t touched it in years apart from the occasional mega-one-liner (that I find strangely satisfying).
I’d lost touch with Perl 6’s progress way back when. This was an interesting read for me just finding out how far it’s gotten.
I don’t know if I’ll end up using it, but I’ll definitely take another look.
- tyingq 7y agoSame, and that's why this one isn't a myth: "Myth: Perl 6 has no target demographic..." The easiest target demographic was active Perl5 users. We mostly all moved on to some other language after waiting a reasonable amount of time.
- totalperspectiv 7y agoAt this point, I'm more excited about the direction and changes in Perl5. It's been steadily chugging away through all the drama and keeps getting better.
