My grandparents had a durian plantation in Sibu, a small town in East Malaysia. During the season we would camp out there for days, waiting for the sound of a fruit dropping and then running out to retrieve it. We had to sell it after my grandfather passed. Interestingly, they say the best durians (from Malaysia) can hardly be found in Malaysia as they are all brought to Singapore where they fetch a much higher price.
