Ask HN: How do you follow news?

Hey everyone! I'm struggling with news... I've tried RSS readers, Apple News, Google News, Twitter, etc. but am struggling with a good way to track news, get notified of important stories, etc. I've heard some folks use Twitter lists and filter by keywords... Others have engineered complex Google News Alerts... But I'm struggling finding something that provides me with topical content + good sources, without a million random things (like on Twitter). Would love to hear how you do it.
