Never shared a room but problems with flatmates, I recall a few. One offering to stab you? Yup! Another nearly burning the place down by forgetting a chip pan? BTDT (and then he did that a 2nd time!). On a lesser scale people who don't seem to understand what washing up means, or that loud noises travel. It's not nice but - stabbies and fires aside, that was unusual - dealing with difficult people is part of life and you learn some useful skills. The other side is you do meet really, really good people. That IMO outweighs the bad.
