I've been working on a web app for discovering backpacking (as in hostels, not trails) destinations and planning trips - https://waystops.com https://waystops.com. I'm a very visual person and for a long time wished there was a browseable map of interesting places to visit and things to see and do when planning backpacking trips. I couldn't find anything that quite did what I wanted so thought I'd have a go myself. The data itself is sourced from a combination of Wikivoyage and Wikipedia. The biggest features I'm looking to develop next are search and a way to leave reviews/comments on places and listings. Still very early days but would love to hear any feedback.
