If I were in an ISP's shoes, I'd be thankful for Mozilla to neutralize the legal attack surface which apparantly is running DNS for customers.

- leblancfg 7y agoI didn’t know that either! For anyone else wants to try it out: https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/a5evhr/configure_dns_over_https_in_firefox/ https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/a5evhr/configure_d...
- lgierth 7y agoUmm I think you commented under the wrong parent
- wp381640 7y agothey monetize dns query data so hate it and pretend it's about the children
- lgierth 7y agoYeah I didn't think about the monetization angle when I typed that comment, you're right. Some even redirect NXDOMAIN results to a "search" page full of ads (T-Online in Germany did this until recently).
- kibwen 7y agoLast I checked Verizon/Comcast does this regularly in the US, and I remember it being a persistent annoyance. As someone who's geographically blessed enough these days to have the option of an alternative ISP, god bless RCN.
- judge2020 7y agoUnless it changed within the past year, Spectrum redirects NXDOMAIN to yahoo search results.
