- Eric_WVGG 7y agoFair enough. C3S has been tracking since 1981, but they've also released a chart using "other sources" that tracks back to 1880. https://climate.copernicus.eu/record-breaking-temperatures-june https://climate.copernicus.eu/record-breaking-temperatures-j...
- btilly 7y agoAnd https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/features/GlobalWarming/page3.php https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/features/GlobalWarming/pag... gives attempts to extrapolate back farther.
- techrich 7y agoLike all good models, you just keep tweaking the numbers until you get the result you want!
- rootsofallevil 7y agoI think here it's tweaking the numbers until they match up with the observed data, as flawed as that may be, but hey whatever floats your boat.
- pintxo 7y agoAll models are wrong, but some are useful.
- Fellshard 7y agoNow this is a far more useful source than the opening post. Thanks for the concrete data.
- alex_anglin 7y agoObligatory xkcd: https://xkcd.com/1732/ https://xkcd.com/1732/
- Fellshard 7y agoRecorded, not extrapolated.
- throwaway5752 7y agoNo it isn't. Nobody thinks, "even hotter than Hadean??" It is explicit in the headline this is in the context of modern recordkeeping: hottest month ever recorded. This is a distracting argument and doesn't add any value. If you read the article, it's clear that it's at least the last hundred years, and, "this study shows that temperature records haven’t just been broken. They have been obliterated"
