Story of the author is quite interesting. Fought against the reds, then became one. This criticism of US was created as communists in USSR were in process of murdering millions. He did not have much to say about that. In fact he went back to USSR in 1960s If he was in any way useful he would have been recruited in 30s, but I guess NKVD did not think him to be of any consequence. It is absolutely hilarious that his ideological descendants are now destroying his work. He would get it quite well, after all Soviets wiped as much culture as they could that preceded them.
