I’m Leaving IBM
- fnord77 7y ago3-year vesting I guess :)
- jkaplowitz 7y agoProbably yeah. Or, if not, annual 4-year vesting and deciding he didn't care about the fourth portion.
- mrandish 7y agoCould also be a 3 yr retention bonus or an earn out.
- james_in_the_uk 7y agoProbably an earn-out and/or retention agreement rather than a vesting, given that it was an acquisition.
- osswid 7y agoIBM's 3 year vest schedule on cash retention packages was 10% at 6 months, 10% at 12 months, 30% at 24 months, and 50% at 36 months. So half of your retention pay happens on the 3rd year anniversary.
- staticautomatic 7y agoThat's a really shitty schedule.
- dennisgorelik 7y agoWhat is "shitty" about this schedule? It focuses on keeping employees longer, which is the main goal of this vesting schedule in the first place.
- argggg 7y agoIt's only bad if the company is working toward some sort of an exit strategy. IBM isn't looking to sell itself, so putting in benefits and pay outs that encourage long-term retention makes a lot of sense.
- equalunique 7y agoThis June 28 was also my last day at IBM. My business unit has been sold to HCL America, and my team is generally optimistic about the deal.
- z_ 7y agoIs this the “HCL” of recent Boeing fame?
- equalunique 7y agoIndeed. The part of HCL's business that was related to Boeing is separate from my team: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-12-07/ibm-sells-software-assets-for-1-8-billion-to-india-s-hcl https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-12-07/ibm-sells...
- huxflux 7y agobeen there, done that
