I agree things are getting way less modular, and lots of the components you mention are becoming hard dependencies, which is not good.
- nsajko 7y agoNit: Systemd is not part of the GNU project.
- imiric 7y agoI applaud the design and ideas in GuixSD, but the lack of support for non-free software is a deal-breaker for me. I wish they'd relax this requirement and added an optional official non-free repository with a limited selection of software. A fork with support for non-free repositories would also be great. So far I've seen individual projects that have done this, but seem abandoned[1] or overwhelming[2] for a Lisp newcomer.
