I am much better at using CLI's than I am using GUI's - just for this reason. Every time I see an icon, I have to think - what is it the person is trying to tell me. Usually, words work much better for me. I know many people that love architecture diagrams. I much prefer to read the words instead of looking at pictures. To me, a word is worth a thousand pictures.
