China strip mines political prisoners for organs
- yters 7y agoLast time I was in San Francisco about a month ago, I saw these creepy newspapers from China that advertised plentiful human organs ready for transplant.
- kolbe 7y agoThe human in me is disgusted, but the economist in me is in absolute awe at how ruthlessly efficient and economically maximizing so many of China's actions are. The US wastes like $100k a year on its prisoners, and China turns them into assets. I'm genuinely scared at not just the prospect, but the likelihood that the China model will be the human race's dystopian future.
- kartan 7y ago> The US wastes like $100k a year on its prisoners I think that the USA wastes $100k on private companies taking care of prisoners. To spend that money in rehabilitation will be an investment.
- 0_gravitas 7y agoIt's like a dystopian version of the old Native American practices you were taught about as a kid, "not a single part of the animal went unused"
- Fjolsvith 7y agoThis is so humane until you become the animal.
- ericmcer 7y agowhen Nietzsche said “God is dead” the replacement was humanity and our forward progress. The Chinese are definitely taking more of an at any cost strategy. Whether that is worth the suffering of human, animal and the environment, or if it even produces better results remains to be seen.
- yters 7y agoPerhaps the bean pushers will be amazed and adopt China's practices. They are not without historical precedent. The Mayans executed enormous numbers of prisoners as human sacrifices. We in the US are not too far off with abortion for medical research. Nazis and Communists had no qualms about mass human experimentation of the most ruthless and brutal kind. Yet, none of the societies that practiced such things in the past have survived. Instead, the more prohuman ideologies have lasted the longest. In my opinion, China's approach is very similar to the modern MBA approach of taking over a company, sucking all its value, and then discarding. It is a desperate, short term approach that results in long term destruction of value. Instead of trying to develop their own innovation and knowledgebase, the Chinese government steal. Instead of trying to develop their own citizenry, they kill, jail and harvest. In general, the Chinese leadership waste their most valuable resource, the human beings that make up their country. They just seem to be small minded and suck ups to the West.
- Fjolsvith 7y ago> We in the US are not too far off with abortion for medical research. There is a push to resist abortion in general, which would prevent this abhorrent practice. Search for "heartbeat abortion ban".
- DeonPenny 7y agoUntil Taiwanese start becoming the product, then Japanese, then westerners.
- bediger4000 7y agoThis web site "evolutionnews.org" appears to be an arm of the Discovery Institute, a creationism advocacy organization. Might be really wise to cross check the article's contents against any sources it might cite, and then check the cited materials. I'm not saying kill the messenger, just that the Discovery Institute and science have a tense relationship.
- yters 7y agoGreat advice. It is wise to cross check both sides of important issues.
