I'm going to suggest that maybe this is a good thing. If the worm is really good at its job, it can take out all those zombie IoT devices that are being used for botnets. And it maybe it will act as a wake up call to consumers, regulators, and, perhaps, companies. Not that I condone destroying people's property to accomplish that, but at least there is a potential upside.
