I have one set up as a sprinkler timer (https://github.com/callahanrts/sprinklers https://github.com/callahanrts/sprinklers). Scheduling my sprinklers with cron jobs gives me a lot more flexibility over water times. It also runs a local webserver so I can turn a zone on for just a few seconds when I'm fixing a leak.
