- throwaway872615 7y agoSimplistically, maybe. In reality their arch-nemesis is "Gharbzadegi". The external ones merely strengthen them. Wikipedia: Gharbzadegi (Persian: غرب زدگی) is a pejorative Persian term variously translated as ‘Westernized’, ‘West-struck-ness’[1], ‘Westoxification’, ‘Westitis’, ‘Euromania’, or ‘Occidentosis’.
