I think Apple has some sort of trust system for user submitted corrections, don't they? It seems reasonable to assume that they do. if someone is submitting bogus corrections, they're less likely to have them published. I use the "report an issue" feature sometimes and like you, i get a message a couple days later. I've even gotten an email asking for some other details. the "add a photo" option they have is quite handy too.
