I use a similar method - I take my Gmail & download it about once per month with Mail.app using Pop3. I just leave it local though, I'm fairly confident in both

I use a similar method - I take my Gmail & download it about once per month with Mail.app using Pop3. I just leave it local though, I'm fairly confident in both Googles servers & my local disk.
