Surprised no-one has yet mentioned AutoIT, it has a BASIC like syntax and is fairly well supported. On one level it's like a more accessible wrapper for Win32 GUI functionality. Use it for making small programs for fun, the latest to download localised weather from the BBC and give a 1 liner summary or a longer 7 day forecast in a simple popup window. Also use it for mouse gesture type programs, as an alternative to browser addons or native software.
