- saagarjha 7y ago> Any programming language(s) on any platform(s) may be used. How does this work? What’s stopping me from using some hyperpowered esolang I cooked up for the competition?

- krick 7y agoNothing, if it helps you with the challenge.
- dbpatterson 7y agoThat the task description is only posted at the start of the competition?
- geofft 7y agoI mean, if you design an esolang for the competition task and implement an optimizing compiler that's faster than any general purpose language out there, that absolutely feels like something that should be rewarded by the spirit of the competition! So it's okay that it's allowed by the letter of the competition, too.
- exsf0859 7y agoIf I recall correctly, the 2001 ICFP contest was won by someone who happened to have done their thesis on the contest problem. :-)
- lukego 7y agoHas anybody made a study of the corpus of ICFP contest entries? Seems like an interesting dataset with many languages, many programmers competing multiple times, etc.
