Am I the only one who will do an initial "proof of concept" implementation of something that I intend to rewrite in another language? E.g. I will write the "first draft" in Python or Racket because I know the language won't get in my way, and then if it needs to be redone in a lower level language or something that I'm less familiar with, then I have a reference implementation to compare it with. The same concept can even apply without switching languages if you just want a "naive" version that you know is correct.
