When I was a kid my mom took me to a doctor, they had her sign a HIPAA release for herself which I thought was kinda funny. It makes sense why (default to release to nobody but the patient), but I just thought it was funny that although she has the authority to add herself or anyone else that she wasn't on the list by default.
