It's not so much that you do whatever a city expects of you, but that you get discouraged when no one around you cares about the same things you do. I hear that. Trying to find an ambitious hacker in the middle of Connecticut to exchange ideas with is an awful experience. People here are so... content with the way things are. Content, numb and detached.
