- the_why_of_y 7y agoThe sentence you quote is from the United States Declaration of Independence, not the Constitution; it is not law. As to your question, the Fifth Amendment says: No person shall [...] be deprived of life [...] without due process of law If this is a concern to you, there are more civilized countries on the globe whose governments do not enjoy such powers.
