Failed experiments is what makes science go forward. How can people who make a profits of innovation (yes, the shareholders he is talking about) ignore so much on the process that leads to innovation ? This is why I believe there is a problem with the stock market : people who buy stocks don't have a clue, they just want to gather profits. This only lead to shortsighted investment, pushing management to take "actions" to reassure clueless shareholders like him.
