I also want to point out that with respect to the connection or divorce between capitalism and democracy, there is no conflict between capitalism and slavery, in fact slavery is the purest expression of the capitalist ideal, since slavery is basically elevating property rights above personal/human rights. Edit: not saying capitalism is equivalent to slavery. I’m just saying that the conflict between capitalism and freedom can be boiled down to a conflict between human rights, and property rights.
