Wow, 5 months is an insanely short timetable to ask people to migrate entire systems to another vendor. I’m surprised their contracts don’t have better terms.

- Locator9 7y agoJoyent really doesn’t have a great track record on shutting down services... That said my view on the company is very much tainted by what happened many years ago when they where a different type of company all together. I personally purchased a few of their ‘VC’ plans before they when all enterprise.

- eli 7y agoI once had an idea to research and write something about the history of Textdrive. Seems like there's something in there about how the internet changed from the '00s to the '10s and it'd be neat to interview some of the players and see where they are now.
- imperialdrive 7y agoIf anyone reading this has less than 100 servers running with them, I am capable to handle turnkey documented migration in <60 days to a provider of your choice.

- sbarre 7y agoI would assume they've been discussing this move for longer with any customers who would need more time. Decisions like this are long in the making, this is just the public announcement for the rest of us.
- hjhart 7y agoAs someone whose previous company has been on their cloud for five years, they didn't reach out to us until 3 weeks ago.
- milesward 7y agoI work at a shop (SADA) that can help with migrations if you feel the pinch: @milesward on twitter is a good way to reach out.
