That’s really unrelated. I get that it seems analogous to you, but it’s weird to me that a cats claw is similar to a foreskin in your mind. Declawing is much more like cutting off the cats fingers
- balfirevic 7y agoThey are both bodily mutilation of powerless non-consenting beings/individuals. I wouldn't call that unrelated.
- cheerlessbog 7y agoIsn't castration/spaying, too? Arguably that's in their own interest but we don't do it to non consenting humans so clearly there's different rules. Heck we keep them in captivity.
- balfirevic 7y agoIt is. But rules are not arbitrarily different - they are, if anything, more protective of humans than cats. Which is why it's weird that declawing is not acceptable while circumcision is.
- serf 7y ago>That’s really unrelated. it's a state-allowed form of mutilation for the sake of convenience, and very rarely medically indicated. the furthest reach is that one is a human practice -- the rest of it seems pretty relatable. Does the fact that cat declawing has no religious adherents bother you with regards to the comparison? That's understandable, but it doesn't make the two less comparable, just more sensitive to argue about.
- hanniabu 7y agoNot quite the same in my book either. This would be more analogous to cutting off the tip of each of your fingers to the first knuckle.
- droithomme 7y agoIt's related to the extent that antisemitism is related to every post in the entire world in the minds of a huge number of people who rabidly foam at the mouth and drool over the possibility of a final and complete holocaust.
- Mirminskyfamily 7y agoHey, I'd be mad if I had an anteater dick too!
- throwaway_dd560 7y agoThey aren't remotely analogous. Male genital mutilation is far more horrifying.
