It's actually not exactly that inconceivable if the you're using the traditional 5 fl oz cup size for tea/coffee. I've just finished my morning coffee - a 34fl oz French press's worth, black. That's almost 7 "cups" by traditional measure, but it's not a particularly outlandish amount.
