The problem comes in many guises. A similar problem arises when someone says "Y" doesn't work. After going on a long trek you find out "Y" is just fine - they had some other problem "X", had done some diagnosis and decided it was caused by "Y" being broken. After many years of being dragged down this rabbit hole my first question is now "what makes you think Y isn't working". If the answer is "because X is doing ...", you've just dogged another hours wasted time in another rabbit hole.
