  I do subscribe to one major newspaper. I'm not going to subscribe to twenty. Subscriptions are a very inefficient payment mechanism, when we're reading just a few articles each from lots of different publishers. If I could click a button and pay a little bit per article, I would. It'd be less work than getting around the paywall.
