- dontbenebby 7y ago> No one will bother. Because this does not affect citizens. I, a US citizen literally JUST spoke out against the practice in the post you are directly replying to.
- aasasd 7y agoThis just in: DOS reverses the immigration policy changes, citing Dontbenebby's comment on HN.

- enraged_camel 7y agoYou made a comment on the Internet, yes. The real question is: are you willing to call your Congress critters and pressure them to do something about it?
- dontbenebby 7y ago>You made a comment on the Internet, yes. The real question is: are you willing to call your Congress critters and pressure them to do something about it? From the HN guidelines: >Please respond to the strongest plausible interpretation of what someone says, not a weaker one that's easier to criticize. Assume good faith. Do you think you're "assuming good faith" when you imply that all I will do on this issue is make an internet comment?
- chronic62736 7y ago> I, a US citizen literally JUST spoke out against the practice in the post you are directly replying to. Good for you. I'm also a US citizen. I read this entire thread on HN and mentally said "Hmm. Bummer." I then went on to browse other HN topics while waiting for my Model 3 to finish charging. My point? Most Americans don't give a shit. You'd be lucky if even 20 Americans complain about this on this thread.

- tssva 7y agoHow does it violate the rights of non US citizens? Non citizens have no inherent right to enter the US. Applying for a VISA to enter the US is a voluntary act, therefore, a non citizen is completely free to chose whether it is worth providing this information in exchange for possibly being allowed in the US. People that are upset about this being asked have obviously never had to complete a VISA application to the US or likely any country. The US and most countries ask far more intrusive questions.
- felixfbecker 7y agoI went through the visa application process for the US. Could you give an example of a more intrusive question?
- rayiner 7y agoWhat rights are those exactly?
