Luckily, you don't have to be super wealthy to do this! If you have ~$7k in your bank account you were planning on spending on things beside food and shelter, you can easily save a life in the developing world instead.

- golemiprague 7y agoI'd rather spend those 7k by buying products where I live and helping my working countrymen than throwing it on some third world person, the ninth child of some ISIS supporter for all I know. But even when giving charity, I don't understand this urge to help people in the 3rd world, there are enough people around me in trouble, I'd rather support people who are closer to me, like the local heroin addict or homeless or poor person I actually see , than someone half way across the world.
