So what they are saying is really that they didn't have to try hard at school and so learnt to be lazy and that its not their fault that they're lazy - its society's fault for telling them they are/were gifted? Please take some personal responsibility for your own actions (or inactions in this case). Frankly anyone who has had a decent education (even if they were not "gifted") has potential to waste; its not unique to "gifted" people to throw that away.
