I developed a graphical drag and drop bioinformatics app for the biologists at the hospital I used to work at. I’m not sure if it was more efficient than a command line for a skilled practitioner, but it ended up working pretty well all things considered. As long as what you’re doing is not Turing complete, I think WYSIWYG has value.
