I think the author is limiting his perspective to that of a software engineer. No web developer is charmed by the limited capabilities of Wix, but it's good enough for the static website many (if not most) businesses are looking for. A CRUD app made by a low-code platform may be limited in its functionality, but it's often good enough for a typical business need. To say it's doomed to fail is an overstatement.
