What about wikipedia? From listening to other people, it sounds like I'm not the only one who gets lost in cross-references and ends up in a completely different topic than I started many hours earlier. When "researching" I tend to develop my own "stack" where I force myself back to topics I started with. Sure, it's only a small part of the web and not primary references. But it is a working example.
