It's the increase in permitting as well. I should have stated that above - raise prices + put limits on # of permits issued. Also - as the article mentioned - gear is better - so it's not as physically treacherous for the avg climber. That said - when things turn bad - you end up with people that shouldn't be up there in the first place.
