I don’t condone the attitudes of people like your uncle or the hyper-sensationalized news that feeds them, but I’m equally discouraged by your response. Why shouldn’t we be skeptical of new technologies and their impact on our environment or ourselves? We should encourage research like this, despite the overreactions that might ensue. The idea that we fully understand the effects of our technology in aggregate is prideful and short-sighted.
