Is there any modern AI that would be remotely functional for such a task, that is better than ELIZA? I can't help but feel something like talk therapy is only going to work with all or almost nothing. You either have a full person that can actually empathize, or an AI of equivalent ability (so, true AGI). Or you become a mirror and let the patient fill in for that capability, like with ELIZA.
