Extroverts just don't understand introverts, and they think they can "fix" us.
- yfdrea 7y agoAt what point did the author of the article say this was to "fix introverts"? They positioned volunteering as a way to combat loneliness which has nothing to do with being extroverted or introverted. Loneliness is a feeling, being an introvert is a personality trait. There are some introverts who struggle with loneliness and some who do not thus this article is a relevant suggestion for some and not for others.
- Wohlf 7y agoI'm an introvert too, and I know many people who are as well. The need for human interaction, love, and belonging still exist.
- grenoire 7y agoI don't think that's what the GP meant. More like, volunteering is not the cure for introverts' loneliness.
- noir_lord 7y agoAlso an introvert and they do. Fortunately my partner is also an introvert so when we feel like been sociable we can be but the rest of our time is spent with her sat reading while I swear quietly at a computer. I’d never really understood he phrase comfortable silence but it’s refreshing to be together but to be able to do our own thing. I’m unusual for an introvert in that I worked sales for a couple of years so I can fake gregarious well if I need to but I find it draining.
- macintux 7y agoI’m life-long introvert, and volunteering has been a huge help to my state of mind. I don’t know what you’re so upset about.
